students will practice graphing linear functions on the number line and writing linear equations given a graph. students learn about equations and how to use graphing tools to develop equations. students also learn about trigonometry and graphing functions with a unit circle.

**abstract**: this lesson focuses on unit 2: area of a triangle in the common core state standards for mathematics, and in particular, the common core state standards for algebra 2. in this lesson, students will find the area of a triangle using the formula and the given information. the formula is a key element for introducing areas of triangles. in the classroom, students are first introduced to the concept of area of a triangle and use the formula to find the area of a triangle. next, students will use the same formula to find the area of different triangles. students will use graphing and plotting to explore the relationships between the area of a triangle, the length of one side, and the angle of one side. finally, students will practice finding area of a triangle in real world contexts.
