Ps2mame Elf Download
The purpose of the test was to see how well the 2.4ghz and 2.6ghz could emulate the PS2, so I decided to emulate the PS2 just like I would if I was playing it in an emulator with which I had some experience. I rebuilt the complete PS2 MAME 0.37b16 / 0.37b16 unmerged romset and then loaded it through OPL to the mame.sfx. The timing for this ISO was proprietary, but gave me a peak of 807Mbps for the CD (compared to 1300 Mbps using a normal PS2 CD) and 750Mbps when using the Internet (compared to 1000 Mbps). The MAME CD and Internet settings were as follows:
- General Options-ROMS Directory – PS2 MAME
- DEFAULT SCSI SETTINGS (defaulted from the ISO)
- Atapi Media BSAS – /dev/scd0
- PIO mode 1
- VIDEO – 9190kbps – 31.2 KHz
- AUDIO_MPEG2/AC3 – 1547ksbps – 44.1 Khz
- AUDIO_DTS – 1114ksbps – 48 Khz
(DTS Codec specified) - AUDIO_Dolby – 1023ksbps – 48 Khz
(Dolby Codec specified) - AUDIO_UNKNOWN – Within spec (AAConfig?)

4. Bootup a PS2! There are various means of getting a PS2 to boot from an ISO on a USB stick. I tried each of the methods but couldn’t get the PS2 to do anything other than shutdown. I finally had success after pressing the PS2 mame/PS2 + GBC + USB converter button on the front of the PS2 for two seconds. After ejecting the USB stick the PS2 booted up.
